Almost There...

Well, we've just finished our fifth day out of a six day building survey, and my batteries are beginning to run low. We've worked our way through four buildings - they might be simple square brick structures, but they're still full of hidden complexity, so it's taking a while to work through everything. I'm in the office Thursday and Friday, which I'm looking forward to immensely!
Wildlife count today was as follows: 6 roe deer, 4 mute swans, a buzzard, another jay, and the most peculiar convention of pheasants (8 in all) and grey squirrels (3) all hanging around in the middle of the road together. But the weather's got very cold, and spending the whole day outside does sap the strength.
I just finished reading a timeslip romance which I've been reading to try and get a handle on the genre, and I now know why I cannot write a romance! I'm not going to divulge the identity of the book or the author, but I really found it very heavy going. It was far too long (1100 pages!!) - it could have been an enjoyable read at half the length, and a lot of the time I wanted to strangle several of the characters, particularly the women. Gads, I can't remember reading such a frustrating book, but I suppose I had sufficient regard for the characters to want to know what happened, and to get really angry when they started doing daft things! IMy next read'sslightly different: Sylvia Loch's 'The Classical Rider: Being at One With Your Horse', which I borrowed from my friend H. I'm looking forward to that...
I'm sorry. I promised some pretty pictures of Fountains Abbey, but I'm just too knackered to think! This is frustrating, because the Muse is still nipping frantically at my heels. I get plenty of ideas when I'm out on site, then when I get back home, my energy levels are at zero!
Ah, well... Soon be Christmas...
