The Powerpoint is done!!

Tomorrow, I'll write the paper.  I've got a first draft, so all I need to do is write it in a rather less slovenly fashion, and Bob's your uncle!

Now, where's that novel?  I need some r & r.

Oh, and the music of the moment turned out to be Dvorak Symphonies 7 & 8.  Oddly enough, that's what I listened to in the lab when I did the initial analysis of the assemblage last year.  It must have felt appropriate at the time.

And I'm now up to 45 minutes on the French Horn.  Today, I wrestled with Saint Saen's Morceau de Concert.  Funny how it felt much easier to play when I was a seventeen year old muppet.  But I can still hit a high 'C'.  Just!  And it's as horrific an experience as it was in the good old days.  Gah!!

I'm just catching up - are you back on the French horn?

I used to love listening to classical music as a kid - don't hear it so often these days. I really ought to do so.

Oh yes. I'm rejuvenated as a result!

It's like riding a bicycle - you don't forget the technique, but churning through a concerto is like riding a time-trial. If you're not at peak fitness, it hurts like heck and you just can't deliver the goods...

LOL, just commented on that post and saw this one after. Oooopps!

Hooray for being up to 45 minutes on the horn! You'll get better, and soon will fly through the concert with ease!

I still can't make it through Mozart 1 without collapsing! By the time I've got to it, I've already had quarter of an hour doing studies and quarter of an hour doing scales, so I'm usually too tired...

Ah, but you are getting there little by little! I understand, I have a guitar that I was never very good at but enjoyed plinking on. By the time I get some warm up in my fingers are killing me because I've lost all my callouses!

I just get a sore face with the French horn - this is a good thing, because it means I'm doing it right. If it was a sore mouth, I'd be doing it wrong...

I still remember my old lessons from years back...

LOL, I would have thought it would have been the other way around....sore face meant doing it wrong and sore mouth meant right. Shows ya what I know about blowing horns!
