Hoorah! I just phoned the wildlife hospital at Hessilhead, and the ailing pigeon is doing well and is starting to show an interest in feeding itself. A full recovery is expected, and it will be released (along with its new friend...) in a couple of weeks.
Does this mean that, statistically speaking, only one in five of my rescue attempts will have a happy ending?
A survival rate of one in five is, however, better than none at all. And I'm reliably informed that my step-daughter was probably right. The murder attempt was probably carried out by a homicidal crow...
I never thought it would try and take out a mature healthy bird. Hovering buzzards, murderous crows.... Whatever next??
