Gah!  What a day!  Today's building was fascinating - a press-house used in the production of cordite.  It had lots of 1930s kit still in place there, and looked like something out of Metropolis.  One of the things I'm really enjoying about this job is seeing just how much the science fiction series and films I've enjoyed through the years have been influenced by the real life stuff that was in common use at the time.  I see daleks in every boiler and condenser, and hip futuristic sets in the generators and transformers...

Spring has erupted in the garden - just like that!  I went for a stroll and found all sorts of goodies.  The fritillaria in the wild flower patch is in bloom, and the primroses have now produced buds.  The tree-paeony is looking like a friendly version of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors, with a massive flower bud, and the tulips are almost in bloom.  And the auricula is in flower - already!!

Photos will follow, but tonight I'm knackered.  I came home from work, rushed out to get a haircut, then came home to a frenzy of potting-on.  Aargh!  J was out looking after other people's gardens, so we haven't even had tea yet.  And Neil Oliver's on at 9pm, talking about the Bronze Age and Iron Age.  Oooh!!

And what's my reading matter at work just now?  Well, it's the book of Two Men in A Trench, written by Tony Pollard and Neil Oliver.  I just read the Flodden section today, and very depressing it was, too.

Poor old Jimmy IV.  We wiz robbed.....
