Sorry I haven't responded to comments today - I'm having problems with LJ...
So I'll post while I can - we're heading to the cinema soon, so I can't hang around long.
It was a lovely day today at work. The kind of day when I really wouldn't choose any other job on earth. We headed out to one of the nitroglycerine hills, and I can safely say that I've never seen a nitroglycerine hill which looks quite so wonderful and homely and picturesque (not that I've much experience of nitroglycerine hills...). The bumbles have been joined by butterflies and hoverflies - today I was closely inspected by a hoverfly which obviously thought that my hi-viz vest was a strange kind of flower.
Rabbits were tripping around all over the place, and the birds were prolific. Buzzards, jackdaws, great tits, blue tits, chaffinches, woodpeckers, even a woodpecker. It was a marvellous place to spend the day, in temperatures that were positively balmy.
And the garden's moving on apace, too. The pulmonaria and the brunnera are flowering, the hellebores are doing well, and the daffodils are coming along nicely. I'll post some photos in the next couple of days, just to show you how things are progressing.
