A Day For Staying Indoors

It could've been worse. Temperatures didn't drop below freezing last night, so a thaw has now set in. This means that instead of a layer of frozen snow melt, we're faced with a layer of packed snow covered by a thin film of water. This makes walking equally treacherous, so we've decided to spend the day safe and warm inside.
I've been a good girl over the past week or so. I've been doing my new exercise regime religiously. This time around I've been careful. I've worked up to a twenty minute workout (ten minute warm-up, two minutes running, plus eight minutes of lunging and squats) followed by quarter of an hour of pilates and yoga. I'm not losing any weight, but I'm feeling more flexible, and there's no sign of the sciatica returning, which is a bonus. And I feel much fitter. Mind you, maybe this is because I'm not knackered from fieldwork! Now it's a race against time to get somewhere approaching fit before I'm next called out for building survey in early January...
And if anyone out there can recommend a good pilates DVD and a similarly good Yoga DVD, I'd be most interested to hear from them...
There's plenty to keep me busy. I just hacked a fuschia out of the permafrosted compost in my hanging basket, and have brought it indoors to recuperate. I don't know if it'll survive, but I thought I'd give the poor thing the benefit of the doubt. When I cut back its branches, the heart was still green, which is a good sign.
I shall spend the day writing, which is a luxury. Though I may clean out a cupboard. And I'm cooking dinner tonight, which ought to be fun.
It's nice to flake out once in a while. Though I'd quite like to go out for a walk, just to enjoy the scenery. Perhaps tomorrow...
