Battening Down the Hatches...

I made it into work safely today, and made it back again, but I'm not going to push my luck. I shall stay indoors tonight and not venture out to the Writers' Group...
We're making excellent progress at work. We ticked off a grand total of 100 buildings from our list today, which was a big improvement on last week's record of 68. The great news is that I've managed to get some additional annual leave booked for the Christmas period, which means we'll probably (fingers crossed!) make it to the Lakes... Here's hoping!!
I promised you some more stained glass from Alloway Parish Church, so without further ado, here we are!
These were my particular favourites, and they were, oddly enough, the most recent. I believe they were commissioned as part of the Millennium celebrations. They've got Burns connotations, which is appropriate, considering the close proximity of Burns Cottage. The first, which is featured below, represents spring, and it shows the river Doon, with the Auld Brig o'Doon in the Distance (it's medieval!) and a ploo'man and his team:-

The second features summer, with the ripening corn and the wild flowers, and - I shouldn't wonder - a wee sleekit', cowrin' timorous mouse skulking amongst the corn stalks:-

There were a set of four, representing the four seasons, and I really wish I'd snapped the lot of them, as they were really gorgeous. But... I felt a bit self-conscious going around taking gratuitous pictures of every single piece of stained glass I came across, so I only took these. I thought they were particularly wonderful...
Tomorrow, normal service will be resumed, and I'll be featuring something of rather more antiquity!
Stay safe and keep warm, everyone! Unless you're one of the Antipodean contingent, in which case you can feel very smug!!
