I had a respite from the archaeology of explosives yesterday.  I had to put my Finds hat on, and sort out a display for the wrapping-up session of the Kilwinning Dig.  The star finds were put out on display, and yesterday evening, I was sent out to look after them and deal with any queries from the public.  Thankfully, I was not alone.  I had an archaeology student dealing with the animal bone, and a colleague dealing with the architectural fragments. That left me with the pottery.

The press were in attendance again, and many photographs were taken.  Facebook will of course be updated with the images - I'll give you the link once they're up and running, so those of you who are interested can keep up with progress.

Once again, the meeting was packed - the good people of Kilwinning have really taken the project to their hearts.  I returned home exhausted, and stumbled through the front door to discover that J was engrossed in a programme on Rosslyn Chapel on BBC 4.  The two experiences - the evening meeting and the television programme - seemed to merge imperceptibly into one.  And, of all co-incidences, who should make an appearance on the programme but the Melrose Abbey bagpipe-playing pig!

If you're resident in the UK, look out for this programme because it was really fascinating.  There were some brilliant views of Rouen Cathedral - J took one look at it, and remarked that in comparison, the places we visit are the equivalent of garden sheds...

Ah well.  Guess we'll need to take a trip to Rouen some time so we can get the full Medieval Cathedral Experience instead of a pale imitation...
