Onwards & Upwards...
Jan. 13th, 2010 07:56 pmAfter a brief interlude for horse-riding, I'm back home, and after dinner it'll be full steam ahead with preparing the printer-ready copy of the thesis publication.
I finally heard from my publisher today, and was told that the squint margins are not a problem. They can be dealt with.
Hoorah! I can at last get on with things, and put this baby to bed for the very last time.
One last (and rather significant) snag became apparent as I was reading through Volume One for thelast time over lunch. I discovered that one of my bibliographic entries was wrong - I'd somehow managed to miss out one of the authors in a co-authored excavation report. Now, this might have been a very minor glitch which was never discovered, but... It just so happens that the missing author was none other than my editor! As well as editing the odd book, he's a prominent figure in his own right who has dug a number of highly important sites. One of these was discussed in depth in my thesis. The omission was promptly rectified, and a new improved .pdf prepared.
To add slight insult to injury, after waiting on absolute tenterhooks for a reply to my e-mail, my editor pointedly enquired when he could expect the final version.' Thankfully, I was able to confidently reply that it would be posted on Saturday.
Fingers crossed that everything will work out.
