I went to the dentist today.  And - hoo-blinkin'-ray - I need a filling.

I don't do fillings.  Extractions, yes.  Getting a couple of wisdom teeth out was no problem at all.  But fillings?  No thank you.

My dentist did have some good news.  Evidently she's recently obtained some super-duper horse-trank strength anaesthetic which she says she can use during the procedure.  "Don't forget to remind me!" she trilled.

As if...  I could tolerate getting my elbow stitched up with iffy anaesthetic, but I don't think I could face a filling.

And I was having such a nice day.  I spent the afternoon getting all the paperwork sorted out in readiness for our next building survey project - a 19th century corn mill in South Lanarkshire.

It's Writers' Group tonight, so I thought I'd leave you with an image that links in neatly with Saturday's post:-

It is indeed the goddess Athena, patron goddess of Athens (boo!!) and equally revered by the Spartans (yay!  You can tell which side I was rooting for in the Peloponnesian War).

She's a goddess close to my heart.  Ja-Ja the road bike is equipped with Campagnolo Athena gears (now we're both showing our age), and there's not one but two owl sculptures gracing the house.

If that wasn't enough, I was delighted on Friday when The Daughter of The Boss (who's ten) selected 'The Purple Owl of Wisdom' from her big book of monsters as my 'spirit guide'.  Through no prompting from me, I hasten to add...  (To show you what the competition was like, my colleague was awarded 'Cleo the Pretty Pyramid' as hers - yes, that's right,  A fun-loving, party-going Egyptian pyramid.  There's some strange kids' books doing the rounds these days).

I'm not complaining.  You could do worse than to be compared with a purple owl that's described as 'bookish, well-read and well-fed' ('Oh, how apt! commented Mrs Boss, dryly).  And on the 'well-fed' front, I'm still working hard at my fitness regime, and hopefully I'll be taking the bike to work on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Freya tends to be my goddess of choice which will probably not surprise you given my liking for things Norse.

I'd love to see pics of the mill building- I've a liking for mills of any sort.

Sadly, I won't be posting any as I don't post any pictures of the commercial jobs I do at work. When the report gets uploaded onto OASIS (the on-line repository for archaeological grey literature) I'll certainly flag it up, and I'll make sure there's all sorts of pictures available!

It's going to be an interesting one. The building is so unsafe that the client has offered to do our surveying for us...

That's a lovely statue, though I have to say, the subject is not my favourite Olympian. Of course, it's important to phrase one's words carefully... look what happened after The Judgement of Paris.
