Since I'm now about to go and meet my father for dinner, I don't have time to post...

So I'll leave you with the latest scandal to hit the world of commercial archaeology - and indeed, archaeology in general - during the last week.  While the Boss and I had our heads buried in editing, the rest of our profession had erupted into a flurry of outrage over....

Bunnygate.

Or...  What happens when a property developer who just so happens to be the head of a little district council in deepest darkest East Anglia decides to pick a fight with the planning system.  And provokes a carefully worded response from no less than 32 of the most highly respected academics in European archaeology...

You can read all about it at:--

Ah, where will it all end, I wonder...

Hopefully, it will all end with his sacking. A more blatant piece of cosy local council corruption and abuse of process would be hard to find tied, no doubt to an abundance of masonic handshakes all round.

A shame the 'Torygraph' only looked into parliamentary corruption- things are far worse at local council level.

It sounds like the people he represents don't like him much, anyway...

He's probably shot himself in the foot. Archaeology is a cudgel frequently employed by the NIMBY brigade, and they often tend to be tory in their outlook...

We shall see...
