Last year, I bored you senseless with endless eulogies devoted to the noble hellebore, so I won't inflict a similar experience on you this year.

But, since it's hellebore time, I just had to seize the opportunity to celebrate this glorious harbinger of spring, so you'll just have to bear with me:-

Bliss!!!

And now I'm off for a bike ride...

Pretty much. It's warmer, and raining, this weekend, so I expect lots of melting. :)

lucky you! (And no, not bored by helebores, you punster you!) Nothing is coming up here yet (though I expect maybe next week if we don't have a frost): though I'm glad to see much has survived UNDERNEATH of leafy plants. The ivy always does well.

And guess what? We've got snow forecast for next week. Oh my Gawd:-0

Definitely not bored with hellebores! *groaning at the pun, though*

It's lovely to see a bit of Spring. I'm talking to the trees and plants here, though, saying, "NO, not yet! It's too early! There's still a chance of a winter storm!"

All too often, we can get a storm around Easter that kills off the new buds and blooms; it just hurts to see that.

Over the last couple of years, we've had some vicious late frosts that have had exactly the same effect. I've lost a mallow, some penstemmon and a couple of lupins that way.

I hate losing beloved plants to frost. *sigh* Dislike even more not having a yard or garden this year. So I'm going to try to do container gardening on my back deck if I can figure out the sunshine issue.

The joy of seeing things grow and prosper will probably cheer you up no end, even if it's just on a small scale. My mood's much improved since I've been able to wander the garden in the evenings.

That's exactly what I'm thinking; dirt therapy!

In a strange (or maybe not) coincidence, I drooled over hellebores today and vowed to totally plant some so I can have a bit more garden cheer next year.

Also, I have more crocuses than Blenheim Palace.

I peaked at 15 last year but I've since lost a couple. I tried planting two beautiful variegated Helleborus Foetidus plants (sounds better than Stinking Hellebores...) but I lost them due to crown rot. If I see similar plants this year, I'll try again, in a slightly drier location.

They were gorgeous:-(

Neither hellebores or nature are ever boring.
What glorious flowers! Thanks for sharing them with us.

'Boring' & 'hellebore' just doesn't compute.
These are glorious.
Reminds me of the old garden...

Sigh...

Hellebores have to be one of my all time favourite plants.
