Oh, No! Not Again!!

It's Day Two of the Big Freeze 2010 (Part 2 - November).
I'm counting off the journeys, and feeling very relieved when I a) get into work, and b) get home from work.
We had some more light snow last night, but that didn't quite prepare me for the exciting scene that awaited me on the A 737 this morning. The other carriageway was completely blocked at the slip road from Johnstone by three cars arranged at jaunty angles across both lanes. Hmm, yes....
And then there was the BMW which tailgated me on the sliproad at Paisley this evening. Hello!! Haven't you SEEN the weather forecast??
Okay, rant over. Happy St Andrews Day, everyone! Evidently, the Burns Birthplace Museum is opening tomorrow in Alloway, so it's rather appropriate that I've been featuring Alloway in my blog over the last few days. You'll have to wait for my visit to the Burns Monument, but I think it only right that I feature a monument from Alloway.
It's the Auld Brig o' Doon, which dates back to the 15th century.

This is of course the famous bridge where Tam o'Shanter and his horse were pursued by the witches who were dancing in the kirkyard at Alloway Auld Parish Kirk, and where Meg's tail was pulled off....
And I shall leave you now with another iconic view - the Burns Monument, as seen from the Auld Brig o'Doon:-

I bet it's looking picturesque in the snow....

Date: 2010-11-30 07:41 pm (UTC)I'm the same with the weather! I'm terrified of the roads just now and breathe a sigh of relief when I get to work, and then breathe another when I get home! Awful!!

Thanks for the link - it's nice to be able to click and read rather than go grubbing around amongst the bookshelves. I also like the Malcolm Arnold overture. I had nightmares about the glissando passages as a young teenage French Horn player!!
