Snailbeach - The Final Post...

One last visit to Snailbeach now...
I don't have any information about these structures, unfortunately. The building on the left (below) has a small museum, but it was closed when I visited, and I rather foolishly forgot to photograph the information boards. I can't actually remember if the building below was part of the offices, or whether it was an early engine house which preceeded the big monster I featured in my first Snailbeach post.
Once again, they've done a fine job of restoring it:-

The next photograph shows a small brick building which used to be an on-site forge:-

The interpretation of the smallish rubble structure on the left with the blocked doorway escapes me, sadly. Like the pump houses and engine houses, it bears more than a fleeting resemblance to a miniature Scots tower-house...
And lastly, a chimney. If I remember right, this drew smoke away from the furnaces that powered the engine house. It's an impressive sight in the landscape, and requires quite a walk to reach it. It isn't the most photogenic of structures - the trees are just too think. Which is very nice for lovers of wildlife. But not much help to those who like to photograph buildings...

And now I need to go out and visit some more buildings, because I'm running out of subjects!!
