Starling Update...
Jan. 2nd, 2012 12:45 pmOur avian squatters seem to have gone now - touch wood!!
They have been heard tap-tap-tapping around the soffits, but even that has stopped now. The consensus is that the little blighters are getting in and out from the exterior of the house: they didn't make any effort to come out through the loft hatch, even when I tried to entice them out with a juicy succulent apple.. They have been quite chilled and relaxed throughout, which makes us think that they know exactly what they're doing.
Unfortunately, I'm sure they'll be back. Sooner rather than later, as the weather has just taken a turn for the worse.
Perhaps I'd better not play 'Starlings' by Elbow or recite Edwin Morgan's marvellous poem 'The Starlings in George Square' in case it encourages them to come back...
