Inside The Holy Cross Church, Haltwhistle

Despite its austere exterior, the church has some lovely little touches inside:-


But my favourite feature was this stepped sedilia, which would originally have been used as seating by the clergy:-

The stoup which would have been used for washing out the vessels used in the eucharist with holy water is located just to the left...

Looking up, some dog-toothed mouldings can be seen around the pointed arches. And there are some carved corbels lurking about the place, too, like the head featured below:-
