Lanercost Priory - The Priory Church
Aug. 12th, 2011 06:22 pmOnce again, don't come to an archaeologist if you want your weather forecast to be accurate. I misinformed you last night - we had two-thirds of a month's rain, not two months. Though it felt like two months' worth at the time, I can tell you...

I've tweaked it a little, but it hasn't really helped things much.
This part of the priory church has been retained for use as the parish church, and the stonework remains in good condition. Outside, the carvings haven't fared so well, but the lighting was much better for photography!
Some views of the transepts now, showing some of the features which still survive.
Including a robust pillar and a couple of corbels:-

A grim day to visit a lovely site, but it was definitely worth getting wet for!
