More Pretty Pictures!!
Jun. 29th, 2011 08:25 pmWe spent five and a half hours editing one paper today. And we only managed to get a third of it done.
And the rest of the day was spent nit-picking the illustration work. And in particular, adding lots of tiny triangular shapes to a drawing in Adobe Illustrator to represent the hachures in various pits and postholes.
Aargh!!!!
It was followed by horse-riding, and Episode 2 of The Canter Masterclass. In which I discovered (with some assistance from Molly) that I can manage a walk-canter transition a lot easier than I can manage a trot-canter transition, which came as a bit of a surprise. Of course, the transformation in us both may have something to do with the fact that - for once- I gave Molly a tap because she really wasn't listening and suddenly she was all ears. From that point on, she was the old Molly - lively, interested and a pleasure to work with. I think she enjoyed it more when she'd woken up a bit, too.
Today, I will post some random pretty pictures from Herculaneum. They're of nothing in particular - they're just a few fragments of the various wall-paintings that survive across the site:-

I like the fragment of coffering which is featured below:-

And lastly, a rather lovely figurative panel:-

We just got a leaflet through from Shropshire Council called 'On the Trail of King Arthur's Shropshire'. I never knew that Much Wenlock and Ironbridge were right next to each other. Or that the Steiper Stones are so close to Shrewsbury - I remember seeing them featured on a very old geography/geology programme called 'Landshapes' that was aired many years ago.
I guess they're going to have to be added to the 'Must See' list, but somehow I think we're going to have to be planning a return journey some time in the future...
