May. 13th, 2011 08:20 pmAnd now, since I've had a surfeit of brick and concrete buildings this week, I thought I'd take a deep breath, a step back, and just remind myself that sometimes brick and concrete can be rather attractive.
At least it can be if you're studying the archaeology of Roman Pompeii, rather than 20th century Scotland...
So here's a short visual tribute to Roman (or rather Pompeiian!) brickwork:-
Now, imagine doing elevation drawings of that lot! Talk about a labour of love - it makes the sketching of Flemish Bond and English Garden Wall Bond and Snecked Rubble seem a positive doddle in comparison...
And now I'm signing off. If the Past is a Foreign Country, I think the exhaust just fell off my car while I was driving through it! Time to find the nearest motel, I think...
