Saxifrage in the City - Part 2
May. 24th, 2010 05:52 pmIt's Monday night, and as ever I'm run ragged trying to get my plants sorted and eat dinner before I head out to the Writers' Group (and I haven't polished my draft up properly, either, so it's going to be ROUGH!!).
Good news on the work front - looks like we'll be doing a Historic Building Recording exercise on a 16th century tower-house, which is going to be rather exciting. Makes a change from lace mills and gun emplacements, anyway...
Now... Cue the appropriate theme music here, because I can feel a massive dose of retail therapy coming on. A nice piece of conspicuous consumption...
What is it that's captured my attention so completely? Well, it's the Hayloft Plants Penstemon Catalogue. Yes, my long-awaited plant catalogue devoted entirely to Penstemon has arrived and I've been leafing through it avidly, while drooling over the pretty pictures of shapely penstemon...
I've earmarked a couple of collections that I really want to get hold of. They have Sour Grapes. They have Heavenly Blue. And many more besides...
Trouble is. Do I really have room for 16-20 enthusiastic young penstemon in my garden?? Time to create a new flower bed, I think.
There's a holiday weekend coming up and I'm feeling the urge to don my hiking boots and do some walking. Weather permitting, we may head up to Glencoe. So I'm going to take a short break from all things Minoan and Classical, and head slightly closer to home, for a short while at least.
Watch this space!!
