I loaned the original copy of my Ph.D. thesis to a highly respected museum curator and haven't had it back yet. I think it's got a life of its own now...
What riles me about the Ashbee book was that no-one even asked to borrow it. They just nicked it.
In fact, my Bourdieu book went missing at the same time. This means that the culprit must have been a) a prehistorian, and b) a follower of the post-Processualist school.
