According to a report on the telly, conditions on the M8 last night were so bad that two snowploughs broke during attempts to clear the road!!

That's bad.  That's very bad.

No wonder some poor souls were stuck in their cars for twelve to fourteen hours....

I'm just glad I got home:-)))

It's now hovering around -8 outside, and it's ony 7.45pm!

Brrrrr.....  I'm glad I got those roosting pockets.  I'm hoping the wren that was spotted in the garden yesterday is taking full advantage of the facilities.

Keep warm everyone!

I'm glad you did too. The news from the UK--people trapped in a pub was one that made it over here (that doesn't sound as bad as being trapped in your car on the motorway)--has been boggling.

Do keep warm!

So Scotland's current affairs have made it onto the international news circuit! Wow! That's really something.

Last time that happened was when two wanna-be terrorists tried to drive a Jeep Cherokee into Glasgow Airport! I remember that day well - my brother-in-law and his wife were meant to be flying off on holiday that day and my hubby was taking them to the airport...

Oh, and we're at -15 now!

Oh, heavens! -15 is no joke. We don't normally get temperatures anything like that, though I think we got to about -12 in the winter of 81-82 (I think is was) when we got snowed in, people had to be airlifted from a train that got stuck in snowdrift heading towards Dovey Junction and the estuary froze right across.

Right now, it's actually feeling a bit warmer here (not saying much), but I'm not getting the feeling of intense cold radiating from the window any more.

The closest I've got to it to date was the winter of 1995, when it dropped to -8 or thereabouts.

I had the horse then. His water bucket was frozen over within a couple of hours, even in his stable, and his droppings were freeze-dried, which made them much nicer to lift with the pooper-scooper!

Eek. Still gobsmacked that England has it far worse, far earlier, than New England. It's just so WRONG!

Oh, don't feel sorry for the English. Their conditions are positively tropical compared to ours...

Actually, this makes a change. Half the time, the West of Scotland basks in the warmth of the Gulf Stream, while our lords and masters in South-East England get snowed in.

Oh, how the chilly snow tables have turned. Brrrr....!!!

I presumed it was a typo...

If I'd thought otherwise, you've have been subjected to the inevitable tirade of 'We're not England! We're Scotland!! We took them over in 1605 when our Stuart King succeeded their silly Virgin Queen' etcetera, etcetera and so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseam...

Anyway, I'm being rotten and mean to England. Yorkshire's getting it really bad just now. I don't even know if we'll be getting away to Cumbria if the weather keeps on like this...

Believe it or not, I for one am most interested in any Scots rants about the English. I'm on your side! If only because a brogue beats an accent any day!
